The ‘Gay Girls Guide’ to
By: Kris.H
If you’ve ever had the pleasure to witness the ultra-swank crowds casually hanging in and around those extra large white tents set up at Bryant Park, while private black cars and SUVs load and unload celebrities and socialites, then you understand the magnitude of this one-week treasure named Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. New York Fashion Week, one of the four major fashion events in the world is a semi-annual industry event hosted by designers or fashion houses to showcase their upcoming collections to editors, journalists, buyers, celebrities and social types alike. The week-long event gives industry insiders the know on what’s “in” and what’s “out” for next season.
The upcoming Spring 2010 Pret-A-Porter Fashion Week will take place this fall, September 10-17.
The fast pace of designers showing their collections non-stop for seven days can be overwhelming for any fashion enthusiast, so we’ve enlisted the help of, Jamila Galloway, fashion buyer for Djpremium.com, to reveal which designers to look out for this Spring 2010 Fashion Week.
Top Designers to Look Out For:
Marc Jacobs: “I am always excited to see what is new from Marc Jacobs with both his Marc by Marc and his Marc Jacobs collection. He is always right on the trend with styles and colors,” says Galloway.
Alexander Wang: “Alexander Wang is amazing and one to always surprise you with his twist on fashion”
Karen Walker and Erin Fetherston: “A lot of people aren’t familiar with them but they both kill it every time!”
Where to Find the Up-And-Comers?
Gen Art Show 2009: “ The Gen Art show is a great showcase for new designers. They have a fresh take on design because more than likely they haven’t been doing it that long or they don’t have a certain market to cater to.”
