NY Fashion Week Wrap Up

New York recently wrapped up its Fashion Week with the biggest designers in the industry along with up and comers showing off their Spring 2010 collections for fashion editors and buyers which also attracts a who’s who list of celebrities to the Bryant Park tents. This year, the fashion industry seemed to take a more consumer-friendly tone to Fashion Week with designer Kimora Lee-Simmons in an unprecented move, streaming her Baby Phat show live in Times Square and Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief, Anna Wintour inviting the public to help celebrate its first, “Fashion Night Out” - where celebrities, designers and industry insiders mingled with shoppers at stores throughout New York City. Over 700 retailers participated in the one-night fete which drew impressively large crowds that hoped to rub elbows with celebrities such Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen who were featured mixing drinks at Bergdoff Goodman, hang out with Rhianna at Intermix or go shopping with Pharrell as he signed autographs at his BBC/Icecream store. While there is no word on whether the event produced the fianancial results the struggling retail industry had desired, it did give the public a little taste of what is a notoriously exclusive Fashion Week and brough a little fun back to shopping.

Meanwhile, inside the tents, celebrities caught enjoying the week-long festivities included Solange, Keri Hilson, Janet Jackson, Lady Gaga and Madonna

That shoeline for Payless is crazy. That is what will be in their stores next year? Payless is stepping their game up….I mean seriously!
